Valentine's Day: Thai teens urged not to have sex

Young Thais are being encouraged to visit temples instead of having sex on Valentine's Day, 14 February.

The western celebration of love is becoming a popular occasion for teenagers to lose their virginity, surveys suggest.

But with concerns about teen pregnancy rates and HIV infection growing, authorities are calling for the country's youth to abstain.

They are also making millions of condoms available in healthcare centres and hospitals around Bangkok.

BBC News spoke about the issue to two young Thais and a Buddhist monk.
