Former Thai PM Yingluck Shinawatra formally indicted

The former Prime Minister of Thailand, Yingluck Shinawatra, has been formally indicted at the Supreme Court in Bangkok over a controversial rice subsidy scheme.

The Attorney-General filed the indictment charging her with negligence over the failed scheme to subsidise rice farmers, which cost many billions of dollars.

Ms Yingluck, who was impeached last month and whose government was ousted by a military coup last year, could face up to ten years in prison.
