Atheist Bangladeshi-American blogger killed in Dhaka

A prominent Bangladeshi-American blogger, known for his atheist views, has been murdered during a visit to Dhaka.

Avijit Roy, who lived in the United States, had travelled to the Bangladeshi capital with his wife to attend a book fair.

He had received threats after publishing articles promoting secular views, science and social issues, which had been criticised for being anti-Islamic.

Police are searching for his attackers who were armed with cleavers.
