Thai government defends lese majeste law

About 100 people have been charged for royal defamation under Thailand's lese majeste law since the military coup in 2014.

Prosecutions have escalated and the sentences have become harsher, with one young mother-of-two being given a 28-year sentence in August.

The BBC's South East Asia correspondent Jonathan Head speaks to the Thai government's spokesman Major General Werachon Sukondhapatipak, and asks him whether the government plans to amend the sweeping law.
