Hong Kong police and demonstrators in 'stand -off'

Fresh clashes have broken out between Hong Kong police and pro-democracy protesters, in an area that was previously cleared by officers.

The scuffles erupted as demonstrators tried to reclaim a protest site in Mong Kok cleared by police early on Friday.

The protesters are angry about China's restrictions on who can stand in Hong Kong's next leadership election in 2017.

The BBC's Celia Hatton says the scuffles seem to have calmed down but that the police are "resolute" about preventing protesters from re-taking the roads.
