US's John Kerry warns China over land disputes

US Secretary of State John Kerry has warned China that his country is concerned by the pace and scope of reclamation projects in contested areas of the South China Sea, during a visit to Beijing.

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi insisted that his country would "safeguard its own sovereignty and territorial integrity".

China claims almost the whole of the South China Sea, resulting in overlapping claims with Brunei, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia.
