Bollywood's big release this week, spy thriller Madras Cafe, has raked up a controversy in India with Tamil groups demanding a ban on the film.

The film, which has the conflict in Sri Lanka and the assassination of former Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi as its central theme, releases across India and many parts of the world on 23 August.

Lead actor, John Abraham, plays Vikram, an Indian intelligence agent "who is sent to Jaffna (in northern Sri Lanka) where he gets entangled in the politics of the rebels and the Indian forces and discovers a plot to assassinate a former Indian PM".
