India elections: High turnout on first day of voting

The first day of voting in India's month-long parliamentary election has seen a high turnout.

One of the big issues is getting the economy back on track with growth having dropped to less than 5%, from a peak of 9%.

The ruling Congress party, and the Gandhi family which controls it, is getting much of the blame and many expect voters to punish them in these elections.
