New Zealand's Prime Minister on earthquake damage

A series of aftershocks have rattled Christchurch, New Zealand, following a powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake.

Despite significant infrastructure damage, local officials say power has been largely restored and tankers will supply water.

The earthquake struck in the early hours of the morning when most people were asleep. New Zealand's prime minister, John Key, said the timing of the quake probably saved many lives.
