Kim Jong-un appears in public with Kim Jong-il

The man tipped to be the next leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, has appeared in front of the world's media for the first time with his father, Kim Jong-il.

They were greeted by an ecstatic crowd in footage broadcast on state television.

The younger Mr Kim was given senior leadership positions only last month.
