Tony Abbott scraps parental leave policy
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has dropped one of his signature policies - a paid parental leave scheme - in the latest blow to his leadership.
Mr Abbott has faced criticism over a number of issues - from a lack of women in his cabinet to slips of the tongue and a decision to award the UK's Prince Philip a knighthood.
But he told journalists at the National Press Club in Canberra he believed he was still the best person to lead the country and had not considered quitting.
