Little pygmy possum found on Australian island for first time since fires
Bushfires destroyed almost half the bushland on Australia’s Kangaroo Island last summer, devastating animal habitats.
Ecologists feared the island’s population of little pygmy possums – the world’s smallest possum species – had been wiped out, but a new discovery has given them hope.
