Australia floods: The weather event as big as 'two European countries'
A weather system has drenched Australia’s east coast, causing widespread flooding and forcing thousands to evacuate.
Senior risk scientist Thomas Mortlock spoke with the BBC about the scale of the event, and why Australia can see such extremes from one summer to the next.
