'Still a very serious threat' of more Russian fires

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev had interrupted his summer holiday break to return to Moscow for an emergency meeting to discuss a strategy to deal with the wildfires caused by the heat-wave that has hit Russia this summer.

The death toll from the disaster has reached 48 and seven regions are under a state of emergency.

Correspondent Richard Galpin has been to the village of Kadanok, 100 kilometres east of Moscow, which has been totally destroyed by the fires.
