Russia bans wheat and grain exports

A ban on exports of wheat and other grains has come into force in Russia in response to a heatwave that has destroyed one-third of the country's harvest.

The ban by one of the world's biggest exporters follows a rise in the price of grain since June when Russia started feeling the effects of severe drought and hundreds of wildfires.
