Thousands stranded as snow stops flights across Europe

Thousands of air passengers across Europe have been stranded by snow and freezing temperatures on one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.

Hundreds of flights have been cancelled as airports close in Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

And in Italy, highways were jammed after heavy snowfall swept through the country.
