Spain: PM Zapatero rules out early general election

Spain's ruling Socialist party is licking its political wounds, after voters punished the government of Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero in local and regional elections.

The defeat was widely predicted, but the scale of the party's loss suggests a possible landslide win for the opposition Popular Party (PP) in the general election, which is due next March.
