Mladic awaits court appearance

Former Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic has spent the night in isolation at a UN detention unit in The Hague.

He was extradited from Belgrade on Tuesday, after judges there rejected an appeal to delay his transfer on grounds of ill health.

Mr Mladic is expected to make an initial appearance before the court within the next few days, to confirm his identity and enter a plea to each of the charges against him. From Belgrade, the BBC's Duncan Kennedy reports.
