Pope Benedict has celebrated Mass at Madrid's Almudena Cathedral.

He was greeted by a sea of supporters as he arrived to present mass confessions and address seminarians.

There have been several protests against the cost of the four-day visit, which comes at a time of high unemployment and spending cuts.
