Barack Obama says US ready to help solve eurozone crisis

President Barack Obama has stated that he is ready to help Europe as it struggles to contain a collapse in confidence in the euro.

The president's comments came after a White House meeting with the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman Van Rompuy.

Mr Obama said discussions were held about creating good jobs on both sides of the Atlantic.
