Captain Schettino: 'We can't get back on board now'

After the Concordia ship got into trouble off the coast of Tuscany, the captain received phone calls from the port master.

This is the second exchange the port commander had with Capt Francesco Schettino. It is translated from an audio recording broadcast on the website of an Italian newspaper.

In the recording, he explains that he cannot get back on board the cruise ship.

Capt Schettino has been detained on suspicion of manslaughter, but denies any wrongdoing.
