IMF says it is 'not imposing austerity on Greece'

Talks are continuing between the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Greek authorities on details of a new rescue package following an agreement among the country's political parties.

Speaking at a news conference in Washington DC, spokesman Gerry Rice said the IMF had been mindful of the hardships the proposed plan would entail for the people of Greece.
