Dutch fisherman on the appeal of eels

Research shows that the number of eels in Europe has dropped dramatically, and they are now classed as a critically endangered species.

In many European countries demand for this delicacy remains strong and eels continue to fetch a high price.

Towns such as Volendam in the Netherlands have long relied on eel fishing to support their economy.

Fisherman Jaap Bond spoke to BBC News about his life on the water and the problems he now faces with the dwindling supply of eels.
