Greece: Alexis Tsipras raises the political stakes

With the Greek economy still deep in recession, the man who came close to being the European Union's first Marxist prime minister has raised the political temperature in Athens.

Syriza leader Alexis Tsipras has accused the Greek coalition government of operating a strategy of "blackmail, terrorism and tension''.

He told Newsnight's Paul Mason: ''This government is the most right-wing and the most extreme government this country has ever had'.'
