EU tests find horsemeat in 5% of beef products

Thousands of genetic tests carried out across the European Union have found that almost 5% of processed beef products on sale have been contaminated with horsemeat.

The tests were ordered in February, at the height of the Europe's food mislabelling scandal.

Laboratories also found that only one in two-hundred samples contained traces of the horse drug, bute, which is potentially harmful to humans.
