Thousands join Madrid May Day protests

Thousands of people have joined May Day protests in central Madrid to voice their concern about the high rate of unemployment and the government's austerity measures.

The protest is just one of the many being held in more than 80 cities across the country, which has an unemployment rate of 27%.

Tom Burridge, reporting from Madrid, says both unions and the general public seem united in their belief that austerity is not working.
