Turkey protests: Reports of man killed in Istanbul

Reports say there has been a first death in the unrest in Turkey with a 20-year-old man dying after being hit by a taxi.

The demonstrator was killed after the car ignored warnings to stop in the Mayis district of Istanbul, said the Turkish Doctors' Union (TTB).

The BBC's Selin Girit said the news of the death is spreading in the streets of Istanbul.

Meanwhile the BBC's Carine Torbey said helicopters have been deployed as a security measure in the capital Ankara.
