Unrest and urban violence in Taksim Square

Protests triggered by the redevelopment of an Istanbul park have escalated into five days of unrest in Istanbul, the capital Ankara, and other Turkish cities.

Newsnight's Paul Mason was in Taksim Square in the heart of Istanbul on Sunday night when the police used tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannon to try to clear the protesters.
