Quiet but not calm in Turkey's Taksim Square

Protesters are again filing into Istanbul's Taksim Square, after a night of violent clashes with police, and they are refusing to leave the nearby Gezi Park.

Earlier on Wednesday, Turkey's Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, held a meeting with a small group of activists.

But the main campaign organisation - called Taksim Solidarity - says it was not invited.

The situation is proving the biggest test of Mr Erdogan's 10-year rule.

The BBC's Middle East Editor, Jeremy Bowen, reports from Istanbul.
