Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy denies bribes

The Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy is standing firm following further allegations that he received illicit payments before taking up the top job.

There have been calls for him to resign after a newspaper published text messages that he allegedly sent to Luis Barcenas, a former treasurer of his Popular Party.

Mr Rajoy said he would not give in to what he called "blackmail".
