Fugitive Edward Snowden applies for asylum in Russia

The former US intelligence analyst, Edward Snowden, has applied for temporary asylum in Russia.

Washington has again told the Russian authorities that Mr Snowden should be expelled to face trial in the US for leaking national secrets.
