Picasso theft investigators search Romanian oven

Romanian investigators are trying to establish whether ashes found in the oven of a woman whose son is charged with stealing masterpieces from a Dutch gallery are indeed the remains of the artworks.

Paintings by Picasso, Monet and Matisse were among the pieces stolen from Rotterdam's Kunsthal museum in October last year.

Olga Dogaru last week said she had incinerated them to "destroy evidence" after her son's arrest.

The art is valued at between 100m and 200m euros (£86m-£172m).
