Defiant Berlusconi vows justice reform after losing tax fraud appeal

Italy's former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has made a defiant statement vowing to reform the country's justice system, after the highest court upheld his prison sentence for tax fraud.

The sentence cannot be appealed further but Berlusconi, 76, is unlikely to go to jail because of his age.

In the statement, Mr Berlusconi denied the charge and condemned the verdict, claiming that Italians lived in "a country that doesn't know how to be just".
