Distress fire panic caused Italy boat sinking - survivor

A migrant boat off the coast of Lampedusa sank after a blanket was set ablaze in the hope of attracting help, survivors have told the BBC.

It is thought the fire caused panic and frightened passengers unsettled the vessel, causing it to overturn.

So far 111 bodies have been recovered and up to 200 people are still unaccounted for. Rescuers have brought 155 people ashore.
