Thousands of demonstrators have spent the night in Independence Square in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, to protest against President Viktor Yanukovych's refusal to sign a landmark EU deal.

Mr Yanukovych is due to meet Russia's President Putin on Tuesday and some protesters fears that the Ukrainian President will push for closer ties with Moscow.
