Calais: 'Wretched' conditions in migrant settlements

Calais in northern France is home to many hundreds of illegal migrants who flock to the port in the hope of making their way to the UK.

The authorities in Calais say they do what they can to help, but insist that many of the young men will not accept any offers which could prevent them from crossing the English Channel.

Their situation continues to raise concern in both France and the UK.
