EU elections: Busy without a job in Spain

Few jobless people in southern Spain expect next month's European elections to change their prospects overnight, if at all.

Those in Andalucia, where the official unemployment rate reached 37.3% last year, have got used to waiting, but are also finding new ways to stay busy during their downtime.

These range from killing the sense of idleness through intense sport, to sharing a talent with the local community - such as teaching neighbours how to cultivate the land in an ecologically sound way.

Jorge, an unemployed exhibition curator aged 52 who lives in the village of Valencina just outside Seville, explains how jobless people make the best of their time.
