Does Russia want the Donetsk People's Republic?

Following an informal referendum on Sunday pro-Russian groups in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Eastern Ukraine declared independence - the self-declared Donetsk Peoples' Republic has asked to join the Russian Federation.

The BBC's Moscow correspondent Steve Rosenberg asked Senior Russian MP Vyacheslav Nikonov whether Moscow would accept the request.
