Father of Isis commander: 'He left because we were poor'
Omar al-Shishani, who is reported to be in charge of the northern Isis front in Syria, was born in Georgia and raised by a Christian father. Then, he was called Tarkhan Batirashvili.
The 28-year-old's father, Teimuraz Batirashvili, told the BBC his son turned to Isis because of poverty.
"Now he says he left because of his faith, but I know he did it because we were poor," he said.
