Can mixing generations cure loneliness?

As populations across Europe age, loneliness and isolation among the elderly is becoming a growing problem.

In Germany, tackling this issue has resulted in an effort by both young and old alike with the creation of multi-generational centres, where all ages can meet, mix - and learn from each other.

The scheme is proving popular and is benefitting all generations.

Michael Buchanan reports from Berlin.
