Kobane: IS and Syria Kurds in fierce gun battles

There has been fierce fighting around the Syrian Kurdish town of Kobane, after sustained air attacks by the US-led coalition against fighters from Islamic State.

Pressure is growing for more support for the Kurdish fighters defending the city.

In Turkey, at least 12 people were killed after protests by Kurds over the lack of Turkish military support.
