Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras: 'We will not compromise'

Greece's new Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has said that his government will not succumb to blackmail from its eurozone partners and that it is in no hurry to reach a new debt agreement.

His comments came after the collapse of talks in Brussels on Monday.

Eurozone finance ministers told Greece it must extend its international bailout agreement by Friday, but Athens refused to accept the continued austerity this would impose.

Mr Tsipras told his Syriza party that he wanted a solution without the 'troika' - the European Union, the IMF and the ECB.
