Ukraine crisis: Russia's 'surprise' at Michael Fallon comments

The UK has said it scrambled fighter aircraft after two Russian bombers were spotted off the coast of Cornwall in south-west England.

It comes after the UK's Defence Secretary, Michael Fallon, warned that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, posed a real and present danger to the three Baltic states - Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, who are members of Nato.

Speaking to the BBC's Gavin Lee, Russian Ambassador to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said he was ''surprised'' at Mr Fallon's comments.

He also ''entirely rejected'' accusations that Russia was responsible for destabilising Ukraine.
