Paris imposes car curbing measures to fight the smog

Paris has imposed drastic measures on drivers to cut pollution and, according to the city authorities, they are working.

Only cars with odd-numbered registration plates were allowed into the capital on Monday in a bid to cut dangerous levels of smog.

Similar alternate-day methods were implemented last spring, a time that is prone to lingering pollution because of specific weather patterns in the Paris area.
