Dumping ground camp for Calais migrants

The French government has designated an area for homeless migrants in Calais on what was an old dumping ground - and those living there have no power and no accommodation.

There is little help for those camping out in shelters they have built themselves, although a new centre provides shower facilities and one hot meal a day.

More than 1,000 migrants are estimated to be living rough around Calais, with many hoping to cross the Channel to the UK where they believe life will be better.

Lucy Williamson reports.
