Gallipoli centenary: Turkey tourists drawn to battle site

Events are taking place to mark the 100th anniversary of the disastrous Gallipoli campaign during World War One.

Among those that died were about 86,000 Turkish soldiers - including some from non-Muslim minorities. Thousands more were injured or not accounted for.

The historical peninsula of Gallipoli in Turkey has drawn millions of foreign tourists since the battle - mostly from Australia and New Zealand.

But tour guide Yusuf Kirca told the BBC that local visitors had started to show an increasing interest in the site.
