Mediterranean migrants: Vast waters where many die

More than 1,700 migrants are believed to have died so far in 2015, in attempts to cross the Mediterranean from Africa to Europe.

At least 800 are thought to have drowned at the weekend alone.

The waters where so many migrants have died are just north of the Libyan coast.

Richard Bilton has flown by helicopter, south from the Italian island of Lampedusa to the front line of Europe's migration crisis.
