Protestors gather as leaders arrive for G7 summit

Thousands of activists have gathered in the German alpine resort where leaders of the world's largest developed economies will hold a two-day summit starting on Sunday.

Although the demonstration in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was largely peaceful, a group of protesters clashed with police, who responded with pepper spray when the marchers pelted them with bottles.

The G7 leaders will hold wide-ranging talks, touching on the possible renewal of sanctions against Russia and the Greek financial crisis.
