Cuba raises flag at embassy in Washington

A formal ceremony has taken place in Washington to mark the opening of Cuba's embassy there, more than half a century after it was closed.

There were chants of Fidel, Fidel, by emotional supporters of the Castro communist regime as the Cuban flag was raised over the building in the presence of the foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez.

The US Secretary of State John Kerry will attend a similar flag-raising ceremony in Cuba next month.
