Europe commissioner: 'EU has duty to protect refugees'

Europe's commissioner for migration has promised "a war against people smugglers" and said migrants who have travelled to the EU for purely economic reasons will be returned home.

Dimitris Avramopoulos also said that refugees fleeing conflict are entitled to be in Europe.
